Care Ashore is a fantastic charity offering accommodation and support for those with a seafaring background including Merchant Navy, Royal Navy, British Fishing Fleet, and other associated maritime industries.

Set within an extensive estate in Surrey, the charity has undergone a great deal of positive change over the past few years which has included improving service delivery and is currently undertaking a refurbishment of the residential accommodation on site.

Alongside the charity operations, Care Ashore has a trading subsidiary generating essential income.The commercial element includes, industrial units, a glamping and caravan site, private rented sector accommodation and presents many other opportunities. Due to exciting growth at Care Ashore, we have 4 exciting roles available for dynamic and passionate people who want to get on board and help drive the Charity forward.

Estates, Grounds and Maintenance Worker

£21,500 pa

We are looking for an enthusiastic estates, grounds and maintenance worker to join our small estates team at Springbok.

The Estates Team is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of our substantial grounds and buildings which including a walled garden, Japanese water garden, fishing lake, orchards and numerous dwellings.

We also manage a number of commercial activities including property and farm rental, camping and caravanning, fishing, clay pigeon shooting, guest rooms and a number of events to generate income to subsidise the cost of services offered to seafarers and to support capital projects on site.

Cook

£23k pa (part time may be considered)

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can work both in a team and alone. Based within a small team in a spacious, well-equipped kitchen, you will be expected to deputise for the Head Chef and assist in menu planning, cleaning, ordering, and controlling of food stocks.

Trustees

The current Board has a mix of backgrounds and experience but wishes to strengthen the diversity further to ensure the needs of those they serve, along with the wider community are met.

To continue the positive work underway, we’d love to speak to candidates with specialist skills in the following sectors:

  • Legal and property
  • Experience of delivering a trading subsidiary.
  • Health and safety
  • Compliance
  • Company secretary

Candidates should understand the importance of good governance, whether in the commercial or third sector, and a warm appreciation of what we do. We are looking for an outgoing, engaging style, and a willingness to act as an ambassador for Care Ashore, occasionally representing the charity at events.

We would be particularly keen to speak to candidates with a connection to the sea and who live within a 50-mile radius.
